Unit Question:What is changing in our world?
Question of the week: What changes happen in a garden?
Phonics: endings /er/ and /ing/. For many words that end in CVC , the last consonant is doubled before an ending is added. Also r controlled ar.
Comprehension:The plot as will as the theme.
Grammar: Verbs for now and the past. some verbs that tell abot the past end with -ed.
The high frequency words for this story are: afraid, again, few, how, read, soon
Math: We will be working on addition strategies. Doubles and doubles plus 1 is our focus first, then on to ten frames and making tens to find sums quickly.
Religion: Jesus in our lives. We will learn abourt St. Dominic Savio, and how Jesus loves children. We will learn about how Jesus gives us signs of his love in the sacraments.
Science: we will be learning about clouds and the water cycle.

We will be learning these words, but will not be tested on Friday. I am expecting the homework to be done.
New Homework Routine:
Monday: Neatly write each word 3 times or, define the words. Tuesday: ABC order or write each word, underline the consonants and circle the vowels, or, do both.
Wednesday: write each word in a sentence, or write the words ino a connected story. Underline the spelling words.
Thursdsay: Choice Night! Choose one activity from the list, and study your words for the test. These choices may be handed in on any day, but are due on Friday.
1. cut out or draw a picture of the spelling words.
2.use magazines or newspapers to find the spelling words and glue the words into your journal.
3.write the words that are nouns and tell if it is a person, place, thing or animal.
4. create a song or poem using most of your spelling words. If it is a song, use a familiar melody like Old Mac Donald or Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.
